TORONTO–The Block Rosary Crusade of Toronto coordinators held their year-end annual election meeting at Mogi & Marlene Mogado’s home on January 3, 2014.
They reviewed the events held in 2013 and evaluated the results. They discussed how they can improve in their activities and better serve their members; continue their devotion to Mother Mary and their evangelization of the Canadian families through the praying of the Rosary.
The officers elected to oversee the Block Rosary operations in the year 2014 are: Lita Leano, Chairperson; Bing Marasigan, Vice Chairperson and Program Director; Peter D’Souza: 2nd Vice Chairperson and Assistant Treasurer; Mogi Mogado, Secretary; Flora Vaz, Assistant Secretary; Dolly Poblete, Treasurer; Madeleine Ong, Communications Director.
The officers will continue to have George R. Poblete as Operations Adviser and Fr. Luis Calleja as Spiritual Adviser.
The above officers will finalize the schedule of their major events in 2014. This will include a Pilgrimage to the Divine Mercy in Massachusetts in April, Living Rosary in Scarborough in May, Pilgrimage to Marmora in August, their 32nd Anniversary celebration in October, Christmas Party in December and other Rosary celebrations and event plans in their parishes.
Pilgrimage to the Divine Mercy will be on the weekend of April 27. This event will be managed by Precy and Rusty Muere.
The Block Rosary Crusade of Toronto was formed in Scarborough in October 1982 is actively involved in religious work. Although their main objective is to pray the Rosary with the member families daily, they also help the people affected by major calamities in the Philippines. (They raised $ 3,200 to help the people affected by the recent typhoon Haiyan). Their group, which is reported the largest well organized Block Rosary group in metro Toronto, and possibly in Canada, have grown to thirteen groups of 52 families (over 650 families). The member families are mainly located in the parishes in Toronto; east to Oshawa; north in Stouffville and Richmond Hill.
The Block Rosary Coordinators had a sumptuous dinner to welcome the new year. Birthday celebrants Madeleine Ong and Marlene Mogado blew the candles in their cake, which was their main dessert.
