Knights mark Rizal’s 153rd birth anniversary

DR. JOSE RIZAL

DR. JOSE RIZAL

If you happen to visit Scarborough, along McCowan Rd., you will be surprised to be greeted by young students with a “Magandang Hapon Po!” or some students getting your hand, and asking for your blessing, “Mano Po!”. They are students of Ms. Maria Regala from St. Ignatius Catholic School. She is conducting Filipino Classes to Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike.

This year, in coordination with the Canada Rizal Region, the life of Jose Rizal was introduced in her Filipino classes. Life of Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines is being taught every two weeks in two classes to a mix Filipino/ non-Filipino students from Grade 6-8. The students have shown so much interest in learning about Jose Rizal, and the great things done by our National Hero, worldwide.

Rizal Canada Region Commander, Sir George R. Poblete, KGCR and Region Deputy Commander Sir Jaime T. Marasigan, KGOR are conducting these classes on the Life of Rizal every two weeks to the Grade 6,7 and 8 students.
