FilCan Catholic Leader Manny Yanga is Candidate for TCDSB Trustee of Ward 7-Toronto

Manny-Yanga2014 , to the Chinese, is the year of the wooden horse. To us Pinoys in the Greater Toronto Area, it’s the year of a great season for big hopes and bouyant expectations. Recent reports reveal that 4 candidates of Filipino descent are vying for Catholic trusteeship within the Toronto Wards and another two, for Federal MP and municipal councillorship .
Reasonably, the Filipino Canadian community is proudly honoured and feverishly agog over the entry and candidacy of a number of community and religious lay personalities for leadership positions in Toronto, especially in the Toronto Catholic District School Board. This, certainly, is good news and elicits bright boding for the Catholic community of the many faithfuls and devoted adherents in the life of Christ.

A competent and charismatic leader, Emmanuel ” Manny” Yanga, is seeking to win as a Trustee of Ward 7 of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). Ward 7 -Scarborough-North York , Toronto is sited in East Yonge St./ Bayview Ave.,south of Steeles Ave. east, North of 401, East of Victoria Park, West of Brimley Rd. & Kennedy Road, and North of Eglinton Ave. east .There are 17 Catholic elementary schools in Ward 7 and among the secondary schools are : Brebeuf College, St.Joseph’s Morrow Park, Mary Ward, and Jean Vanier

Affectionately called “Manny” by relatives and friends, E.Yanga is a proven and capable leader in the religious lay and socio-civic communities in Toronto. He served as founding president of Toronto Kapuso Lions Club, past president of Golden Vision Lions Club and in 2011, joined & became the chapter commander of Scarborough Knights of Rizal (KOR).
In 1994, Manny was instrumental in organizing the Couples for Christ Catholic Charismatic Community and also was a member of the Council of Elders and the evangelization director for Canada. Currently, he is Deputy Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus-Our Lady of Assumption Council #12582 . A 4th degree member, he was elected Faithful Captain of Assembly of Jesus # 2692 at Blessd John XXIII Parish.
Happily married to the former Elizabeth Quiazon of Santa Cruz, Manila, Manny was born and grew up in Malabon, Rizal. A graduate of Mapua Institute of Technology with a B.Sc. in Business Administration and Master’s in Marketing, he migrated to Canada in 1994 with his wife and family of 2 boys and two girls, all adults now and with 7 grand kids.

During his early years in Canada, he worked as new car salesman of Roadsport Honda, then became a sales consultant in 1999, and was senior account manager and financial services manager of Parkway Honda until he moved to Scarborough Toyota Lexus in 2011 as its senior product advisor. Manny is proud of having received lots of recognition and business excellence awards from varoius civic, social & religious organizations.

Active in the community, Manny is a generous supporter of worthy causes, donating time and money towards undertaking calamity/disaster relief assistance and charitable contributions both in the Philippines and in Canada.

A strong Catholic believer and family man, Manny plans to offer transformative solutions and initiatives to issues and concerns of residents– parents and students alike in Ward 7, especially for secondary and elementary students to achieve academic success and performance. He can be reached at Tel.416-858-0616 or email: mannyanga@gmail.com. Good luck Manny. May our dear Lord bless and be with you, always! (TSJ)
