THSGAA honored former THS teachers present in the convention, Mrs. Aurelia Akim, Mrs. T. Linsangan, Mrs. Josefina Aviles, Mr. and Mrs. Dominador Malonzo Jr.

The recently concluded Torres High School Global Alumni Association 2nd Anniversary Convention in Los Angeles, USA  was a resounding success.

Torres High School was founded in year 1925, hence it became the biggest public high school in Tondo, the first district of Manila. This association intend to foster unity and friendship among Torresians worldwide and help in some ways our dear Alma Mater, THS.  We believe we owed so much to our Alma mater, we gained a  good  secondary education even it is a public school, our teachers were excellent teachers whom we never forget .Torres High school had become one of the most popular high school in Manila during our time, it has produced outstanding citizens who excelled in their chosen fields.

We value our humble beginnings, our classmates, schoolmates became our lifetime friends .

In  his gathering of Torresians coming from different areas of the world we renew our friendships and had great time in the convention.

THS_10014953We were aware we will pursue our mission of helping the poor public school we left behind. In so doing we believe we help teachers teach well,  with instructional materials and various assistance, students learned more and thereby help them to become good citizens. Helping the public school means also helping our country as well.

To Torresians interested to join us in the  association please let us know. Join THS Global Alumni in facebook.

While I was not in attendance at this happy and eventful celebration, however, the above article and photos made me feel I was one of the celebrants. Congratulations to the Officers, Advisory Board and members for a job well done! -- Romeo R. Fernandez, THS Class 1958, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, romeo.fernandez@sympatico.ca

    • (I clicked on "Report" inadvertently). I'm glad to hear that both the annual Torresian reunions in Toronto and Los Angeles were a big success although they were so close in time to each other. I wonder how many would have liked to attend both.

      • Gloria, it will be awesome if Torresians can attend both, they have the same goals , to serve dear THS! Actually, since the other one is much older, gives us ideas and became our model in pursuing our activities and functions. Peaceful co-existence is what we are targetting.

  7. My niece, who is based in Minneapolis, came across this article and forwarded it to me. Congratulations, guys, for keeping the Torres torch burning! Wherever we may all be and whatever we may have attained, one thing is certain: we take pride in declaring that we are among the "fruits" of our beloved Torres High School.

      • Gloria, it will be awesome if Torresians can attend both, they have the same goals , to serve dear THS! Actually, since the other one is much older, gives us ideas and became our model in pursuing our activities and functions. Peaceful co-existence is what we are targetting.

  5. I've never been in any gathering of any other Torres High School Alumni Association except ours - Class of 1959 aka the '59ers Golden Jubilee! It must have been MAGIC! Carry on this memorial event. A Tradition, make it!
