Students match wits and strategy in TCDSB Chess
Better brain function, improved memory, and enhanced cognitive abilities are just some of the many benefits of playing chess. Across the Toronto Catholic District School Board, chess strategists from Grades 1 to 8 are gearing up for the 2015 TCDSB Chess Tournament, beginning on February 24th.
Regional chess competitions in various categories will take place from February to April across the city culminating at the Team Chess City Final on May 6th, 2015 in the atrium at the Catholic Education Centre, 80 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto.
Dates, times and locations for the tournaments:
Girls Only Individual (Grade 1-8) Tournaments, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
North: March 30th, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School
South: March 25th, St, Alphonsus Catholic School
East: March 3rd, St. Martin de Porres Catholic School
West: February 24th, Monsignor John Corrigan Catholic School
City Finals: April 9th, St. Timothy Catholic School
Open Individual (Grade 1-8) Tournaments, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
North: March 31st, St. Conrad Catholic School
South: March 26th, St. Alphonsus Catholic School
East: March 5th, St. Bede Catholic School
West: March 31st, Monsignor John Corrigan Catholic School
City Finals: April 10th, St. Timothy Catholic School
Team Chess (Grade 1-8) Tournaments, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
North: April 30th, St. Edward Catholic School
South: April 16th, St. Alphonsus Catholic School
East: April 29th, Cardinal Leger Catholic School
West: April 24th, Monsignor John Corrigan Catholic School
