Andrea Horwath: Hydro One is not Wynne’s to sell off

QUEEN’S PARK–NDP Leader Andrea Horwath released the following statement on Kathleen Wynne’s misguided plan to privatize Hydro One.

“Kathleen Wynne wants to hold a fire sale of Hydro One, but Ontario’s public institutions are not hers to sell off. For nearly a century our province’s electricity system has been in public hands. It doesn’t belong to the Liberals, or to the Conservatives, or to any political party. It belongs to the people. Not only does Hydro One provide a critical utility for Ontarians, but the revenue it generates helps to pay for the vital public services we all rely on.

Ontarians expect their government to help make their electricity bills more affordable, not the other way around.  Privatization will cost us all more in the long run. This is a short-sighted gamble, by a desperate Liberal government.”

  2. I'd like to know why Ontario Securities Commission and RCMP aren't all over this potential swindle. Even if securities fraud has not yet been committed, these crazy rates, crazier "smart" meters and delivery charges are extorting thousands of dollars from people who just can't afford to do without much more
