TCDSB Slates 2015 Proudly Pinoy Day Celebration in Toronto
The TCDSB Asian Heritage Month- Proudly Pinoy Day is to be held on May 23, 2015 (Saturday) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic Secondary School, 1440 Finch Avenue West, North York, Toronto. The one-day celebration with its theme : “Proudly Filipino: Sa Puso, Diwa at Gawa” is a significant segment of the annual Asian Canadian Heritage Month.
The event is being sponsored and hosted by the Toronto Catholic District School Board Asian Heritage Month Committee, Community Relations Department and James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic Secondary School in partnership with several student councils, youth groups, community associations, professional organizations and settlement service providers.
It will showcase Filipino heritage and culture and will feature presentations including music, dances, songs, speeches, networking and workshops for parents, students, youth and other guests.
Student and parent workshop topics include : 1) Tips from Pros: Filipino Role Models, 2) Healthy Relationships, 3) K Mobile: Filipino Art and Culture in the Classroom, 4) Education Issues Roundtable, and 5) Licensing Certification for Professionals.
Leading Filipino Canadian community professionals, student and youth leaders, educators and other industry-certified practitioners will be invited to engage and facilitate in the 5 workshops, through group discussions, presentations and open consultations with the participants.
