Sitsabaiesan calls on Chen to release his fiscal plan
SCARBOROUGH — New Democrat candidate Rathika Sitsabaiesan (Scarborough North) penned the following letter to her opponent Shaun Chen demanding he provide transparency on Liberal spending plans.
Dear Shaun Chen:
As you know, yesterday, my leader Tom Mulcair delivered on his commitment to provide Canadians with our fiscal framework.
I’m proud of our balanced, progressive plan that delivers on the priorities of Scarborough North families. Priorities like health and long-term care, building needed transit and infrastructure, kick-starting our manufacturing sector, and delivering one million affordable childcare spaces.
To date, Justin Trudeau has refused to do the same. That’s not fair to the voters of Scarborough North. That’s not the transparency they deserve.
We are asking you to immediately release your costing plans in order to answer Canadians’ questions like, exactly how large your deficits will be in each of the next three years? How do you expect to eventually balance the budget? Are you simply delaying cuts to vital services, planning to increase service fees or do you plan to sell off assets? If so, what assets are you planning to sell and how much do you expect to collect from this sale?
So many questions remain unanswered. You owe it to Canadians and the voters of Scarborough North to answer them.
We are asking that you be clear with Canadians and release your fiscal plan immediately.
Thank you,
Rathika Sitsabaiesan,
NDP Scarborough North candidate
