Musika Mississauga wows audience at Maja Prentice Theatre
40 Filipino Canadian Children ranging from 5-13 years of age sang in ONE VOICE, echoed one perfect harmony, united through music on Sunday, June 26th at the Maja Prentice Theater.
The children were led by Candace Santos, Musical Director and Christian Almojuela, Stage Director and Choreographer. In front of over 200 people, the children performed various types of songs from the traditional Filipino folklore, ‘Leron-Leron Sinta’ to the Broadway musical Matilda’s “When I grow Up,” to and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown Musical’s “Happiness”, and to a medley of Abba songs with Broadway like choreography , ‘dancing queen’ and ‘Mama Mia.’ The audience was taken to an assortment of complex musical tones characterized by its duration, pitch, intensity and timbre. The choir has truly captivated the audience by their harmony that was consistent throughout the first and second act.
Musika Mississauga expresses great appreciation to all the children and parents for all their hard work and dedication. Also, to the talented guests Arlene Paculan , Vince Camua and Candace Santos herself who added entertainment to the audience and to the Mayor of Mississauga, Ms. Bonnie Crombie for attending and providing encouragement to the children.
