Durham Crossover basketball  participates in the 2016 NABA in the inter-city tourney in U.S.

14265032_10153360124517185_8118038131352236004_nDurham Crossover Basketball represented Ajax, Ontario, Canada in the recently concluded 2016 North American Basketball Association (NABA) Inter City Basketball tournament which was held in Pensylvannia, U.S.A. from September 2-5, 2016.

NABA is now on it’s 29th year under the leadership of its Commissioner – Dr. Ron Damasco and executive officers Dr. Sonny Albano, Larry Albano, Rizza Valera and Edgar Tojino. It is the largest gathering of basketball players, clubs and afficionados in the United States, Canada and the  United Kingdom.

The 2016 edition of the basketball tournament was held at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pennsylvania and hosted by Queen Long Island City headed by Mr.David Acevedo.

A total of 146 basketball teams from 28 cities slugged it out to win the championship in 10 different divisions.

Ajax Crossover participated in 4 divisions and was a finalist in the Mosquito division. Led by Gabriel Lopez, it won four games against Toronto, Baltimore, Glendale Heights and New York but lost in the finals against Washington DC. A great achievement indeed for this very young kids most of whom came from the basketball skills program being conducted by Durham Crossover under Coach Mike Cruz and Coach Abe Oligane.

14222121_10154525644439343_2816009338256343923_nAteneo Men’s Team manager Epok Quimpo also graced the event to look for talents available for recruitment for their university. Notable players interviewed and coordinated with Team Canada Crossover Marlyn Cruz were Evyn Santiago from Markham, Andre Cruz and Jared Parkins from Ajax and Brendon Ocampo from New Market.
