Sing Pilipinas Toronto crowned its champion on November 12, 2016 at the Toronto Pavilion. Nineteen pre-auditioned finalists battled it out on stage with their vocal prowess for three rounds, the first narrowing them down to seven until only three remained by the third round.

The panel of distinguished judges included Jasleen Jalbay, Martha Joy, Mon Torralba and Chiqui Pineda. Before the judges gave their decision, teen sensation Darren Espanto entertained the crowd in a special concert and offered moral support to the contestants as he acknowledged that he has gone through many singing contests on his rise to fame.

During the show, he was awarded a certificate of recognition by World Vision as a token of the organization’s appreciation for using his talent to support charitable causes. After performing ABBA’s Thank You For The Music bringing all the contestants on stage for the final time, the judges announced Shairah Garrido as the Sing Pilipinas Toronto Champion with Alyssa Grace Datu in 2nd place and Edwin Andres in 3rd place.

The talented and charming yet ever humble teen star, Darren Espanto flew in from the Philippines to wow the crowd and offer words of encouragement to the contestants. He was given a certificate of recognition by Egay Gonzalez on behalf of World Vision as a token of the organization’s appreciation for his charitable work.
