Kalayaan Centre holds AGM
The Kalayaan Cultural Community Centre (KCCC) recently held its’ Annual General Meeting on February 19, 2017 to discuss the current state of the Centre, changes to the Board, ongoing programs fundraising activities and to review proposed amendments to its Constitution and By-Laws.
In the absence of KCCC’s treasurer Renato Samonte, former President Resty del Rosario presented the treasurer’s report indicating that the Centre is in a very strong financial position. It was revealed that KCCC’s amount of cash in its bank account for the last three years has increased significantly. Thanks in part to the hard working Board of Directors and a more efficient system of renting space at the Centre, fundraising efforts throughout the year and proceeds from regular bingo events.
Charity Roda-Lim then read a report on behalf of current President Gerry Rulloda to confirm changes that occurred within the Board of Directors. As a result of Resty Del Rosario’s resignation from the Presidency, the Board voted for and approved changes to the following positions:
• President: Gerry Rulloda
• Executive Vice President: Charity Roda-Lim
• Vice President, Program Administration: Resty Del Rosario
A list of ongoing activities at the Centre was also presented which comprised of:
• Line Dancing every Monday evening at 7:30
• Ballroom Dancing every Tuesday evening at 7:30
• Modern Hula every Wednesday evening at 7:30
• Zumba every Thursday evening at 7:30
• Cultural Dance and music every Saturday morning at 10 am.
• Seniors Drop Ins Monday to Friday afternoons.
In addition, a list of upcoming fundraising events were also provided:
• Fri, Mar 31, KFCO Dancing with the Professionals
• Sun, May 7, Zumba
• Fri, June 9, KFCO Gala Night
• Fri, July 7, Hawaiian Dinner Dance
• Sat-Sun, July 8-9, Philippine Festival of Mississauga
• Sat, Aug 19, Golf
• Sat. Sept 23, Father-Daughter Dinner Dance
• Sat, Sept 30, Walkathon
• Sat, Oct 28, Halloween
• Sun, Dec 31, New Year’s Eve Ball
Edgar Frondozo presented changes to the Constitution and By-Laws designed to ensure that the rules and regulations in which the Board is governed is up-to-date and kept in line with the needs of the Centre.
In addition, minutes from the previous Board of Directors were reviewed and approved. The members were generally very pleased with the current state of KCCC particularly its financial health; a sure sign of continued support and longevity for the Centre.
