Elections Ontario launches new e-Registration Tool

Elections Ontario launches new e-Registration Tool

TORONTO–To mark International Day of Democracy, Elections Ontario has launched a new e-Registration tool to simplify the registration process for Ontario voters. Now, Ontarians can check, update or add their voter information online in a few easy steps.

Elections Ontario will be promoting e-Registration across Ontario to improve the accuracy of the Voters List. Democracy Week events will include a strong presence on university and college campuses to reach young voters in the highly mobile 18-24 demographic. Watch for updates on social media #EisforEasy and #GetONit.

Most Ontario residents are already registered to vote, but with several electoral boundaries changing for the next General Election, voters will need to check the register to ensure that their personal information is correct. With up-to-date voter data from voters themselves, Elections Ontario can more successfully deliver the Voter Information Card (VIC) to the right person at the right doorstep before the next provincial election.

The VIC is mailed to every voter whose name and address appears on the Voters List. It includes important information about where to vote, when to vote, and the many ways to vote. For the next General Election, the VIC will be the key to an improved, modernized voting system and a better voter experience.

Online e-Registration is another step to Making Voting Easy.

Quick Facts

To be eligible to vote in an Ontario provincial election, you must be: 18 years of age or older, and a Canadian citizen, and a resident of Ontario.
16 and 17-year-old Canadian citizens who are also residents of Ontario can now add themselves to the Ontario Register of Future Voters. When they turn 18, they will be transferred automatically to the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario.

Elections Ontario is the non-partisan agency responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda. For more information, visit www.eregistration.elections.on.ca or call 1-888-668-8683 (TTY: 1-888-292-2312).
