Launch of Diasporic Intimacies Nov. 17

The book, “Diasporic Intimacies: Queer Filipinos and Canadian Imaginaries,” edited by Robert Diaz, Marissa Largo and Fritz Pino, will be launchedon November 17, 2017, 6:00 pm – 10 pm at the Urban Space Gallery on 401 Richmond Street, Toronto.

The event brings together artists, activists, scholars, and frontline community workers as they reflect on the contributions of LGBTQ Filipinos/as to Canadian culture and society.

This celebration will feature performances, reflections, and community dialogues around social change.

Performing will be Pantayo, Sofonda Cox, Vachina Dynasty, Ms. Nookie Galore (Patrick Salvani), and Sean Kua.

Providing their reflections are: Rinaldo Walcott, Richard Fung, Roland Sintos Coloma, John Paul Catungal, May Farrales, Casey Nicole Mecija, Lani Montreal, Lisa Valencia-Svensson, Pj Alafriz, Melanya Liwanag Aguila, Jo SiMalaya Alcampo, Christine Balmes, and many more.

Copies will be sold at the venue for 20% off. All proceeds will go to community organizations commited to advancing equity and sexual diversity: Kapisanan, Magkaisa Centre, and Migrante.
