Statement from the office of the late Senator Tobias C. Enverga, Jr.

Statement from the office of the late Senator Tobias C. Enverga, Jr.

SEN. TOBIAS 'JUN' ENVERGA JR.

SEN. TOBIAS ‘JUN’ ENVERGA JR.

On behalf of the Enverga family, I wish to convey sincere thanks for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers given in the days following the passing of the Honourable Tobias C. Enverga, Jr.

The family would like to thank the more than 7,000 individuals who attended the viewings on November 24-26, as well as the 1,500 individuals who were present for the funeral on Monday, November 27. Those in attendance came from all over Canada to pay their respects and included many of the late Senator’s friends and family as well as a number of dignitaries and colleagues from the Senate, the House of Commons, and representatives from all levels of government.

The many well-wishers who have reached out in person or have sent lovely notes and flowers – which lined the funeral home – have been a source of strength for the family, who are deeply appreciative.

Please note that Senator Enverga’s website and Facebook page will remain active and the family requests that any organizations or individuals who have had the Senator attend their events send these pictures to be posted online. These photos can be sent to SenatorTobiasEnverga@gmail.com.

At this time, the family looks forward to ensuring that the legacy of Senator Tobias “Jun” Enverga lives on through the establishment of the Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr. Foundation. More details will follow on this initiative.

Sincerely,

James Campbell
(Parliamentary Affairs Advisor) on behalf of
Mrs. Rosemer Enverga
Spouse of Senator Enverga Jr.

In Memory of Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr., 1955 – 2017

It is hard enough to accept the death of a loved one when it is expected through age or infirmity. To lose a loved one in such untimely manner is an unspeakable grief which words alone cannot express.

Thus, it is with special recognition that we of the Niagara Region, both within and outside the Filipino community, offer our most heartfelt sympathy to his beloved wife, Rosemer, and three children Rystle, Rocele and Reeza. Please be assured that you are in the forefront of many, many prayers. We considered ourselves privileged to have known and loved the late Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr and to share in your sorrow.

I am certain that the good Senator is on our Lord’s safe keeping and trust that He will aid you in this time of tears.

May God bless you abundantly and keep you in all your ways.

NB. Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr paid his official visit in Queenston Heights, Niagara-on-the-Lake on July 29, 2017 to meet the Niagara groups and Association.
My tribute and appreciation to the late Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr on November 29, 2017 in Ottawa ….

To our first Filipino Canadian appointed to the Senate of Canada in 2012 . . . . .

Although it is a great, great honour for me to be here today, it is also a great, great sorrow. Our loss of our very own “kababayan”, a dear friend to many, the Honourable Tobias C. Enverga Jr, Senator, is a terrible blow to both we of the Filipino community and to all humanity as well.

His history speaks for itself. As I know personally, he was incredibly kind and giving to so many in so many diverse ways. Surely, Heaven holds a special reward for those who love and live in generosity and compassion.

In accepting the Senate Sesquicentennial Medal, I am quite overwhelmed. As the Bible suggests a prophet is not without honour except in his own house. Therefore, the recognition of my efforts and accomplishments by my own people is nothing short of extraordinary.

To be in the same company as these other most worthy recipients cannot properly be expressed in so limited a time. Let me just say that I am truly humbled and most appreciative of this great honour.

Thank you all so much and God bless you!

Arturo Tapiador Viola
Former Lord Mayor, Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, First Capital of Upper Canada – the first Filipino Canadian to become Mayor in Canada
