Petronila ‘Tita Pet’ Cleto, Oct. 18, 1945 – Jan. 11, 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of GABRIELA Ontario organizer and founding officer Petronila Galicia Cleto, known to many as “Tita Pet”. She died at St. Michael’s Hospital on Thursday, January 11, 2018 around 5:00 AM, from organ failure.

Tita Pet was an integral part of building the Filipino women’s movement in the Philippines and the migrants’ movement in Toronto. We will greatly miss her, but will continue her legacy of struggle and service for the Filipino people.

A memorial service will be held for Tita Pet on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 1:00-5:00 PM at York Funeral Centre on 160 Beecroft Road, North York, ON M2N 5Z5.
