Kapatid TV5’s Fiesta Ball
FBL Canada in cooperation with Kapatid TV5 and B Zone Live Streaming held a successful Fiesta Ball last July 19-22 at the Pan AM Sports Centre in Scarborough with 44 teams participating from different local ball clubs from the GTA.
The inaugural weekend tournament was organized to let local Filipino community kids play among each other and enjoy the game. Ten Filipino ball clubs competed in this 4-day tournament with CKATT emerging as the overall champion. CKATT basketball club went home with the special glass trophy and cash prize after winning the 2010, 2009, 2005 and 2004 divisions. UNDFTD came in close second after snatching the 2008 and 2006 division tied with perennial power house North York which grabbed the 2007 and 2002. Bayan won the 2003 and finalist at 2004 division. Crossover managed only to be finalist at 2006 and 2005 divisions this time around. Other club participants include 24 MM, One Ten, Bayanihan, Toronto Future Phenom and Maharlika Royals.
FBL Canada making true of its promise of trying to offer something new every time they organize a tournament had some of the championship games live streamed by partner BZone of Jomer Nueva for free. It allowed players’ families, relatives and friends all over the world to watch the championship as it happened.
All of these were made possible by show of brotherhood from Filipino Ball Clubs from the GTA and surrounding regions. Kapatid TV5 for its part provided the trophies and awards given to all winners. Up next for FBL Canada is the annual Turkey Ball on October 4-7, 2018.
