MPP Cho hosts dinner to support Chinese vs discrimination
SCARBOROUGH–Member of Parliament Raymond Cho hosted a dinner at Royal Chinese Restaurant on Sheppard Ave corner Birchmount Road on February 5, 2020. The purpose of the dinner is to show support to the Chinese community who are being discriminated as a result of the spread of the Coronavirus. MPP Cho’s message was “Let us love our neighbors”. He further said that there is no place in our community for discrimination and he does not appreciate people who spread misinformation. He encouraged those who were in attendance, and the community as a whole, to continue to patronize and support the businesses of our Chinese brothers.
Hon. Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health was the guest speaker for the event. She emphasized that there is no reason to fear the spread of the Coronavirus. The Ontario government is doing its best to deal with the issue. She also encouraged the community to get an update on what the government is doing by visiting their website created for this purpose. https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov
