Message to our readers

Dear readers,

The Philippine Reporter is still here, serving our community and other readers, despite the abrupt interruption in our lives brought by COVID-19. We’re happy to note that since March when the lockdown was started in Toronto, we have not missed publishing a single issue.

We wish you all the safety and well-being possible under these trying times that include the social distancing measures, the lost jobs and income and to some, the loss of loved ones.

For us, the greatly reduced advertising revenue, the reduced circulation and number of pages and the difficulty of covering stories notwithstanding, not to mention the reduced contact with our advertisers, we will continue to publish our newspaper.

We will continue to serve you despite the grim and impossible conditions imposed on us by this pandemic. It’s good that media business is considered among the essential services allowed to operate by the federal and Ontario governments.

Rest assured, despite these great challenges, we will continue to do our job as a community newspaper for the Filipino community and the larger society in Canada.
