UP unveils Martial Law Museum

UP unveils Martial Law Museum

By Daniel Asido

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines administration teased the public with 3D-visualizations of the first state-sponsored museum that is being built to remember the atrocities committed during Martial Law.

The university unveiled the visuals on its  Facebook page on September 21, 2020, the 48th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.

The facility, opened for bidding by the Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission, will rise in UP Diliman.

“Once completed, it would be the first and only state-sponsored museum that officially recognizes the atrocities committed during martial law. #NeverAgain #NeverForget,” the university posted on Facebook.

The UP administration has been very vocal with its condemnation of the Marcoses and the human rights violations committed during Martial Law.

The university offered students a subject tackling the history of Martial Law.

Meanwhile, groups held a protest rally at the Bantayog ng Mga Bayani to mark the martial law anniversary and to criticize “historical revisionism” that allowed the Marcoses to return to power.
