Agnes Miranda marks 35th year in financial services industry
Accomplished businesswoman and a strong supporter of the Filipino community, Agnes Miranda, a role model to Filipino-Canadians, believes that anyone is capable of achieving his or her goals with hard work, passion, perseverance and positive attitude. She is quite esteemed as a pioneer and leader in both business and community.
As an Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of World Financial Group (WFG) and with her outstanding performance in enterprise building and expansion, it’s remarkable how she finds the time and resources to organize huge events and fundraising projects for her community.
In 2009, she was a recipient of the WFG Pioneer Award for her substantial contribution to the growth of WFG Canada.
In 2012, Miranda was awarded by the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) as Outstanding Filipino-Canadian in the field of business.
With her keen business acumen, Agnes is also a promoter of culture and beauty championing the Filipino-Canadian community’s talents and achievements.
Through the numerous pageants she organized in Toronto, she mentored women on personality development, poise, confidence, and communication which allowed them to explore bigger and better opportunities.
When she produced the fashion show for the PIDC’s signature event, the Mabuhay Festival in 2011 and 2013, and sponsored one of the events in the award-winning Toronto festival, the Canada Fashion Week in 2013 in support of the Kol Hope Foundation, all of which featured the world renowned Filipino iconic fashion designers, she not only raised funds for the community but helped bring light to what Filipinos are actually capable of offering the world.
Agnes Miranda is an advocate in alleviating poverty and supports the Philippine nation building movement through the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation. She was principal in the relief efforts of the victims of devastating typhoon in the Philippines. The most recent one was in 2013 when Haiyan struck the southern Philippines. Miranda sponsored relief efforts and led fund raising initiatives to help the victims.
Passionate about her enterprise, Agnes Miranda continues to build bridges and provide opportunities for Filipino-Canadian women through her expertise and mentoring to become business owners and/or establish a stable career in the financial sector.
In 2015, Agnes Miranda was selected one of the Outstanding Asian Canadian awardees for Exemplary Contribution to the Canadian Community given by the Canadian Multicultural Council Asians in Ontario. In December 2015, she was also recognized by Kol Hope Foundation for children for her mission to help kids with disabilities around the world.
Year 2016, Miranda and her team through WFG spearheaded the Campaign for Financial Literacy throughout Canada. Free Workshops for Financial Education are being held in her 20 or more offices all over Canada. To help her in her crusade about Financial Literacy, she is producing a one-hour radio program every Sunday with www. PinoyRadio.com and soon will be on MCBN.TV.
November 2016 , during the 25th Year Anniversary of Philippine Chamber of Commerce Toronto, Miranda received a Certificate of Excellence in recognition of her achievement, leadership, commitment and desire to make a difference in the community.
Mid-year of 2017, Agnes Miranda received the RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards.
In August 2017, she produced the Philippine Tapestry showcasing the Philippine Fashion, Music, Dance and Culture in four major Canadian Cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.
In September 2017, Agnes Miranda received the Golden Balangay for Excellence in Business.
December 1-2, 2017, Agnes Miranda celebrated WFG’s 20th Anniversary year in business.
In the summer 2018, she was a major sponsor for the first Vaughan Fiesta Extravaganza to help Filipino Canadian community. She was also a Co-Chair of the Mabuhay Philippines Festival on its 20th Year Celebration at the Nathan Philippines Square. She co-pioneered the Mabuhay Philippines 20 years ago when it was established in 1998 at the Canadian Exhibition as a featured country.
Agnes Miranda is also a board member of the Meguko Foundation International whose mission is to provide high school and college scholarships to the less fortunate but qualified students globally.
Recently, she was awarded as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World 2018 by the Filipina Women’s Network. She received her “Builder” award in London, UK.
This year 2019, Agnes put up a fundraising event for Bantay Bata of ABS CBN and she was instrumental for bringing Catriona Gray, 2018 Crowned Miss Universe, to Toronto. Going forward, she continues to pursue her vision of giving a chance to everyone who wants to become entrepreneurs and continue her advocacy in supporting women and empowerment in the field of business, personality development culture and arts.
Currently, Agnes Miranda is the Executive Vice-President of the Philippine Independence Day Council of Canada, co-chairing Cultural Arts and Tourism Mabuhay Philippines Festival 2020 in the Mabuhay Virtual Celebration last August.
As she continues to give back to the community, Agnes Miranda spearheaded the campaign to recognize frontline workers during this Pandemic time, distributing food and snacks to frontliners in the medical facilities in the Greater Toronto Area which includes The Toronto General Hospital, Sick Kids Hospital, etc. She has reached out and has been part of the relief efforts of Helping Hand Organization in the Philippines, helping victims and those who are directly and indirectly affected by the Covid19 Pandemic.
Last month, September 2020, Agnes Miranda received the most coveted Top 25 Legacy Award of World Financial Group, recognizing her and her team for the most number of families helped in her entire WFG career.
Agnes Miranda’s goal for 2020 and onwards, is to help the young generation to fulfill their dreams in the field of sports, music, and literary arts and to continue her advocacy in the Financial Literacy and Education campaign, mentoring and coaching senior citizen to retire in dignity.
