Nicole Huff lands recurring role in new Netflix series
By Scott Dion Brown
Rising star, Nicole Huff, is set to appear in the new Netflix drama Tiny Pretty Things this December. No stranger to the screen, the half Filipino, half Canadian, French and German actress, has appeared in thirty-five television commercials including McDonalds, Smarties, Disney, and McCain and in multiple films and television shows including MTV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation, Global’s Private Eyes (starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson), and Disney Channel’s Life with Derek. She recently won the award for Best Young Actress in a Guest Starring Role for her appearance on CBC’s Diggstown (starring Vinessa Antoine) at The 5th Annual Young Entertainer Awards in Los Angeles this past October. You can also catch her in a guest starring role as Alina Taylor on CBC/NBC Universal’s upcoming comedy Lady Dicks (starring Dean McDermott) in 2021.
Nicole will be stepping into her pointe shoes when she takes on the part of bubbly ballerina Paige Aquino, a recurring role in the ten episode series. Classically trained in many styles of dance (jazz, acro, musical theatre, lyrical/contemporary, hip hop, tap, ballet, pointe), the role of Paige is a natural fit for Nicole, who landed the role after extensive auditions took place in the US, the UK, and Canada. Perhaps it was her black belt in karate, her piano skills or her competitive figure skating background that gave Nicole an edge over the others. Whatever it was, you’ll see it soon in Netflix’s Tiny Pretty Things.
The new series, based on the book by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton is set in the world of the Archer School of Ballet, an elite Chicago academy where Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber opposite Jim Carrey) plays the school director. It follows the journey of young dancers competing for greatness in a ruthlessly competitive environment where few survive. Written by Michael MacLennan, who also serves as the executive producer and show-runner, Tiny Pretty Things has been described by Good Reads as “Black Swan meets Pretty Little Liars” and is sure to be an exciting ride for drama and dance fans alike.
Nicole (22), only daughter of Eva Oribiana Huff and Terry Carl Huff, was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She attended a Catholic French Immersion elementary school where she was an honour student and became fluent in French. She went onto study in the Dramatic Arts Program at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts, where she was on the Honour Roll for all four years and was awarded an Ontario Scholar award. Completing her education is a top priority for Nicole who currently attends Ryerson University, majoring in Media Production for Film, TV, and Radio with a minor in French Language Studies.
While the role of Paige will have her flexing her dramatic and dancing skills, Nicole is also an accomplished singer/songwriter: a true triple threat! She is currently in studio working on what will be her debut EP.
Tiny Pretty Things premieres December 14th on Netflix.
