Consulate sponsors webinar presentation
In celebration of the Philippine National Arts Month in February, Sentro Rizal of the Philippine Consulate Genearal in Toronto is pleased to invite the Filipino Canadian and mainstream Canadian public to a webinar presentation on the “Kundiman: Examining the Philippine National Art Song” to learn about Philippine music, its origin, historical impact and development to its current forms.
The lecture will be conducted by Mr. Antoniel Roca of York University’s Doctor of Philosophy in Music Program, whose ethnomuscology doctoral study touches on the kundiman music genre, and the ways it was utilized as propaganda during both the revolution against Spain and the United States.
