Filomena Mariano Ticzon
June 9, 1946 – April 12, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Filomena (Nene) Ticzon (nee Mariano) on April 12, 2022, at home with her family by her side. She was born and raised in San Pablo City, where she started her studies before moving to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. Nene spent her adult life in Toronto, where she worked for over 40 years at York University as the Administrative Coordinator for the Schulich School of Business.
She was the beloved wife of Fernando Ticzon, the loving mother of Lisa, the proud grandmother of Liv and Aiden, and the much loved Tita to numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all of her family, friends, colleagues and community.
Nene served as the President of both the Samahang Sampablenos of Toronto as well the Seven Lakes Association International. As President she initiated and completed many projects that directly helped our Kababayan. She was also an officer of the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) for many years.
She was a fantastic chef, well-known for her Caeser salad, and the ultimate party planner: her breakfast buffet will go down in history!
An avid traveller, Nene‘s friends and community spanned the whole globe and her love, generosity and dedication for them was beyond measure.
She lived with dignity and grace, seeing the beauty in everything and in everyone, and enjoyed living life to the fullest. Her bright light may have gone out in the world but her many rays will remain alive in those of us who were blessed to have known her.
