On July 11, 2022, the Migrante Alberta Facebook page posted photos of undocumented worker Evangeline “Vangie” Cayanan and her Canadian-born daughter McKenna celebrating with supporters at the Migrante Alberta summer picnic. MP Randy Boissonnault and his team who were also instrumental in helping stop their deportation posted a photo with them on his Facebook page on July 12, 2022. “We met with Vangie and Migrante Alberta in my office yesterday to celebrate the great news that they will be staying in our community! We also took the opportunity to discuss regularization for undocumented workers to protect future families in similar situations,” said MP Boissonnault.

The victory resulted from a hard-fought campaign by Migrante Alberta that lasted for almost a month with over 3,800 signed letters sent to current and former Immigration Ministers Sean Fraser and Marco Mendicino as well as other Members of Parliament.
