Gawad Kalinga Canada to hold its First Annual Spring Fundraising Dinner-Dance

Gawad Kalinga Canada is holding its first Annual Spring Fundraising Dinner-Dance on April 22, 2023 at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre and Spa. This fundraising event is being held to support the various programs of Gawad Kalinga in the Philippines which may include, but not limited to, building sustainable communities, feeding programs for school children, educational programs and social business and family productivity programs. The event will be attended by Luis Oquinena, Chairman of the Board and Dan Bercasio, Executive Director of Gawad Kalinga Philippines who will provide updates on how they are addressing poverty in the Philippines. We have also invited representatives from the Canadian government. During the event, Joey Albert, a Filipino singer, songwriter and lyricist and an ambassador of goodwill for Gawad Kalinga will bring us back to some nostalgic happy moments in our life.

Gawad Kalinga Canada was established in October 6, 2010 as a federally incorporated not for profit organization with a charitable registration number. It partnered with Gawad Kalinga Philippines to help fight poverty. As to date, GK Canada raised funds and was able to help build 82 Canadian villages (20-30 homes per village) and supported other GK Philippines programs such as Kusina ng Kalinga, BayanAnihan, Maleta library, School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED Philippines) and other livelihood projects for typhoon victims.

The Board of Directors of Gawad Kalinga Canada, led by its Chairman Alfredo “Pidoy” Pacis, is working hard to create awareness among the Filipino-Canadian community on how poverty is being addressed in their home country and to engage them to help in whatever way they can, in building hopes and dreams among our unfortunate brothers.
