FEU Boys High School Class 1964 holds 60th year reunion
The FEU Boys High School Class of 1964 held their 60th Anniversary Reunion at the Aloha Hotel in Roxas Blvd., Manila recently. The affair was attended by classmates and spouses, including their class adviser Dr. Simplicio Bisa, now 93, together with his wife and children.
The classmates also welcomed Guy Mier and his wife Kit & son Wynn who came all the way from Batangas City. It had been 60 years since the classmates last saw Guy and as expected, the meeting was very emotional with lots of hugging, handshakes and laughters.
For entertainment, the evening program had music and songs of Elvis Presley rendered by a professional impersonator using familiar tunes that harkened back to the nostalgic early sixties. It was indeed a warm and lovely evening which will be cherished for years to come.
The FEU BHS Class of 1964 (more specifically, Section 1, Morning Session) was the “Cream of the Crop” Class. To date, it has produced many outstanding professionals, among them are Rene Ruivivar, retired World Bank consultant based in Virginia, USA; Hermie Garcia, publisher of The Philippine Reporter, a Filipino-Canadian bi-monthly newspaper publishing in Toronto for 35 years; Atty. Romulo Macalintal, well-known election lawyer and advocate of Senior Citizens’ rights; Arch. Philip Recto, foremost designer of high-rise condominium buildings that dotted the skyline of Metro Manila; and several doctors, lawyers and accountants who have distinguished themselves in the Philippines or abroad.
That evening, the class was able to raise P130,000 for the medical needs of Dr. Bisa who expressed his profound gratitude.
Two days earlier, the class also conducted an out-of-town trip to Batangas City to visit their classmate Guy Mier & wife Kit; and then enjoyed a leisurely tour of the sprawling 37-hectare farm estate of Sandy Javier, Jr. of Andok’s Chicken fame, at the outskirts of cool Lipa City.
Sensing the brevity of life, the class is now planning to hold more frequent reunions in the near future.
