The resignation of Ricardo Morales as president and CEO of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) won’t spare him from accountability for possible adverse findings in the Senate’s investigation of alleged corruption in the state insurer, Senator Panfilo Lacson said on Thursday, August 27.
“It’s clear that the [PhilHealth] executive committee and P-CEO Morales are answerable for it. So the Senate’s view is it won’t change things even if they all resign. The cases must push through,” Lacson told DZXL radio on Thursday, August 27.
Morales submitted his resignation to Malacañang on Wednesday, August 26, and it was accepted by President Rodrigo Duterte early Thursday. On Tuesday, August 25, Duterte relieved Morales from office for health reasons, as he is battling cancer.
